About Our Club
Pinelands Toastmasters Club was charted in October 1989 and its constitution stands under the umbrella body of Toastmasters International. Since 1924, more than 4 million people around the world have become more confident speakers and leaders because of their participation in Toastmasters.
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Today, our membership is some 250,000 strong. These members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 12,500-plus clubs that make up our global network of meeting locations.
Most Toastmasters meetings are comprised of approximately 20 people meeting for about 2 hours. Participants practice and learn skills by filling a meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech to an impromptu one to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian.
Our vision: The Vision of this club, not only but with Toastmasters worldwide, is to be a Club where members want to come to every meeting to perfect their skills, and to achieve their personal goals and to experience what camaraderie is all about.
The first step on the Toastmaster ladder is the “Ice-breaker” (1st speech of 10 taken from the Competent Communicator in which the new member stands before fellow club members and introduces oneself!). All speeches within this manual give basic criteria required to present well-structured speeches. These speeches lay a solid foundation for things to come. After completing this manual you go forward into the advanced series with the ultimate goal being the cherry on top: DTM (Distinguish Toastmaster). This is however fully explained in our guest pack. All questions gladly answered.. .
